Audra McDonald received the Distinguished Performance award for her performance in The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess at the 78th Annual Drama League Awards ceremony, held today at the Marriot Marquis Times Square.
Other Desert Cities was awarded Distinguished Production of a Play; Death of a Salesman was named Distinguished Revival of a Play; Once received the award for Distinguished Production of a Musical; and Follies won for Distinguished Revival of a Musical.
Special awards were also handed out at the ceremony to the previously announced honorees Alan Menken for Distinguished Achievement in Musical Theatre, Rosie O’Donnell for Unique Contribution to Theatre, and Diane Paulus, who will receive the Founders Award for Excellence in Directing.
