Audra McDonald Has Returned to Broadway’s The Gershwins’ Porgy & Bess

Tony Award winner Audra McDonald has returned to The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. She had been out since June 20 due to a serious vocal infection

The show, which has been directed by Diane Paulus, won the 2012 Tony for Best Revival of a Musical, while McDonald earned her fifth Tony Award — and her first as Best Actress in a Musical — for her work as Bess.

McDonald previously won Tony Awards for her work in Carousel, Ragtime, Master Class, and A Raisin in the Sun.
