Laura Osnes, Megan Hilty, Ricky Ubeda, and more will sell cookies for charity.
Gourmet cookie company Schmackary’s will host its third annual Broadway Bakes event from May 25-29. Over those five days, many Broadway stars will come together to work behind the counter at Schmackary’s each day from 3-7pm in support of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
Some of the stars scheduled to appear at Broadway Bakes include Audra McDonald (Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill, A Moon for the Misbegotten), Corey Cott (Gigi), David Burtka (It Shoulda Been You), James Monroe Iglehart (Aladdin), Laura Michelle Kelly (Finding Neverland), Laura Osnes (Cinderella), Lesli Margherita (Matilda The Musical), Megan Hilty (TV’s Smash), Ricky Ubeda (On the Town), and Will Swenson (Les Misérables, A Moon for the Misbegotten).
Half of the proceeds from cookies sales and 100 percent of the tips generated while the Broadway stars are working at Schmackary’s will go directly to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. In its first two years, Schmackary’s Broadway Bakes event helped raise more than $25,000 for the organization.
"Every step of the way, the backing of the theatre community has helped our little cookie company grow into a huge success story," Zachary "Schmackary" Schmahl said in a statement. "So when it came time to give back, Schmackary’s wanted to assist the Broadway community in any way possible. Broadway Bakes was born, and the stars have come out twice now to help us give back and support Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS."
Schmackary's is located at 362 West 45th St.
