The first Broadway revival of Yasmina Reza’s Tony Award-winning play Art, translated by Christopher Hampton and directed by Tony Award nominee Scott Ellis (She Loves Me) has recouped its investment.

Art officially opened on September 16 at Broadway’s Music Box Theatre and the limited engagement will end as scheduled on Sunday, December 21.

The play also raised a total of $188,905 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids during its red bucket fall fundraising campaign.

Art stars Tony Award nominee and Emmy Award winner Bobby Cannavale (The Motherf**ker With the Hat), Tony Award winner and Emmy Award winner James Corden (One Man, Two Guvnors), and Tony Award winner and Emmy Award winner Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother). Standbys for the production are Michael Oberholtzer, Howard W. Overshown, and Harry Smith.

Art is about three longtime friends and one ridiculously expensive painting. Is it art, or is it just the world’s priciest inside joke? Hayley Levitt wrote in her review for TheaterMania, “Art is as smart a commentary on friendship, identity, and the unspoken expectations that tie them together as it ever was.”

The design team includes set designer David Rockwell, costume designer Linda Cho, lighting designer Jen Schriever, sound designer Mikaal Sulaiman, original music composer and Kid Harpoon. Art is produced by Sand & Snow Entertainment (Michael Shulman), ATG Productions, and Gavin Kalin Productions.
