The American premiere of this lost Cole Porter musical will be presented as part of The Town Hall 2014 Summer Season.
The Town Hall 2014 Summer Season: Broadway Preludes will launch on June 27 with the American premiere of Cole Porter's The Ambassador Revue. The one-night event will feature a cast from the worlds of jazz, Broadway, opera, and more.
The evening's performers will include Grammy Award-winning 1920s and '30s musical interpreters Vince Giordano and The Nighthawks as well as guest stars such as soprano Amy Burton, Tony Award nominee Anita Gillette (Brighton Beach Memoirs), Jason Graae (A Grand Night for Singing), Ted Levy (Thou Shalt Not), Grammy-winning vocalist Catherine Russell, and two-time Tony nominee Tom Wopat (The Trip to Bountiful). Additional casting to be announced.
The Ambassador Revue will feature direction by author and musical theater historian Ken Bloom.
"The Ambassador Revue features a score of clever and topical comedic songs, lush, romantic ballads, and of course, those patented, double-entendre ditties for which Porter would come to be notorious," said director Ken Bloom in a statement.
The Town Hall 2014 Summer Season: Broadway Preludes comprises three one-night-only events featuring music from some of Broadway's most beloved songwriters, acclaimed musical performers, and fresh talent.
