Andrew Barth Feldman to Star in Nero Musical

Stage and screen star Andrew Barth Feldman will make his London stage debut this autumn in Nero, a new musical at Southwark Playhouse Elephant. Preview performances begin November 2 ahead of an official opening November 6. Tickets are on sale through December 5.

With book and lyrics by Steven Sater and music by Duncan Sheik (the team behind Spring Awakening), Nero is about the young man who would become one of Rome’s most infamous emperors and his ambitions as an artist. Nero would regularly give vocal performances and participate in singing competitions during his reign. According to the Roman historian Suetonius, spectators would occasionally feign illness or death to escape the theater.

Feldman is best known for his Broadway performance in Dear Evan Hansen and for starring opposite Jennifer Lawrence in the film No Hard Feelings. He was last seen on Broadway in Maybe Happy Ending.

Lindsay Posner directs the production. The creative team includes choreographer James Cousins, musical supervisor and vocal arranger Phil Bateman, musical director Ben McQuigg, set/costume designer Georgia Lowe, lighting designer Robbie Butler, sound designer Tony Gayle, casting director Harry Blumenau, associate choreographer Georges Hanns, costume supervisor Maybelle Laye, and props supervisor Eve.
