Broadway's Anastasia has announced that pop star Cody Simpson will extend his engagement in the musical for eight additional weeks. Simpson made his Broadway debut in the role of Dmitry on November 29, 2018, and will continue to star in the Broadway production through April 14.

Simpson was discovered and signed by Atlantic Records in 2009. He has gone on to release multiple records and tour with Justin Bieber, and he has created his new band, Cody Simpson & the Tide. Simpson recently performed for the Queen of England at Buckingham Palace and spoke at the United Nations Ocean Conference as the UN Development Program's Ocean Advocate.

Anastasia opened at the Broadhurst Theatre on April 24, 2017. The musical features a book by Terrence McNally and an original score by Tony winners Stephen Flaherty (music) and Lynn Ahrens (lyrics). Tony winner Darko Tresnjak directs. Ahrens and Flaherty penned the tunes for the 1997 animated film on which the stage musical is based, and have expanded their score, which contains the songs "Once Upon a December" and "Journey to the Past," for the theatrical production.

The company is also led by Christy Altomare, John Bolton, Penny Fuller, Constantine Germanacos, and Vicki Lewis.
