An L.A. Journey – The Story of Lorenzo Alfredo to Play Casa 0101 Theater

The biographical drama is coauthored by Emmanuel Deleage and Lorenzo Alfredo.

An L.A. Journey, a new play written by Emmanuel Deleage and Lorenzo Alfredo, will have its world premiere as part of Casa 0101's 15th Anniversary season. Directed by Deleage, the production will run from May 8-June 7.

The biographical drama follows the life of Lorenzo, an 11-year-old homless K’iche Mayan orphan, from Guatemala City to Los Angeles. With the help of Olivia, a tortilla maker escaping an abusive relationship, the lively duo braves many dangers in a 13-month epic trek while attempting to cross two borders.

The cast of 15 is made up of coauthor Lorenzo Alfredo himself, Carmelo Alvarez, Yolanda Gonzalez, Feliz Hernandez, Angel Lizarraga, Aurelio Medina, Blanca Melchor, Esturado Munoz, Kathy Pedraza, Sharon Robles, Katie Ventura, Olin Tonatiuh, Yocani Tonatiuh, Erick Chajon, and Noemi Pedraza.

Featured on the creative team are Cesar Holguin (scenic design), Maura McGuinness (lighting design), Abel Alvardo (costume design), Vincent Sanchez (sound design), and Eddie Magaña, JJ Paredes, Paulina Bouyer-Magaña (projection design).
