Allegiance Searches for a Leading Lady in Second Episode of Trek to Broadway Video Series

Takei stars in a new musical that is based on his experiences as a child.

The second in the new ten-part documentary series Allegiance: Trek to Broadway has been released on actor George Takei's Facebook page. The series, presented in bimonthly installments, chronicles the new musical Allegiance's journey to the Great White Way, where it will open November 8 at the Longacre Theatre.

In the latest installment, the creative team goes on the hunt for a leading lady. Check out the episode below.

Inspired by Takei's true childhood experiences, Allegiance is set during the period of Japanese-American internment in World War II. The musical features a book by Marc Acito, with music and lyrics by Jay Kuo. Olivier Award nominee Stafford Arima directs.

Joining Takei in the cast are Tony winner Lea Salonga, Telly Leung, Katie Rose Clarke, Michael K. Lee, Christopheren Nomura as Tatsuo Kimura, Greg Watanabe, Aaron J. Albano, Belinda Allyn, Marcus Choi, Janelle Dote, Dan Horn, Owen Johnston, Darren Lee, Kevin Munhall, Manna Nichols, Autumn Ogawa, Rumi Oyama, Momoko Sugai, Elena Wang, Scott Watanabe, and Scott Wise.
