Acclaimed British performer and Broadway veteran Alfie Boe (La Bohème) returns to Broadway tonight to star as Jean Valjean in Cameron Mackintosh's fresh staging of Les Misérables. Simultaneously, Tony Award nominee Montego Glover (It Shoulda Been You) and Alex Finke will make their debuts as Fantine and Cosette, respectively.

Also tonight, at 10:15pm, the Imperial Theatre will dim its marquee lights in memory of Kyle Jean-Baptiste, the 21-year-old Jean Valjean understudy who passed away August 28 in a tragic accident.

Based on Victor Hugo’s classic novel, Les Misérables is written by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg. The show features music by Claude-Michel Schönberg, lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer and original French text by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel, original adaption by Trevor Nunn and John Caird and additional material by James Fenton. Broadway's Les Misérables, now in its second year, plays at the Imperial Theatre.

Boe, who will be replacing Tony nominee Ramin Karimloo, is set to star opposite Earl Carpenter, who will extend his contract in his performance as Javert. The cast also features Tony Award and Olivier Award nominee Gavin Lee as Thenardier, Rachel Izen as Madame Thénardier, Brennyn Lark as Eponine, Chris McCarrell as Marius, and Wallace Smith as Enjolras.

Boe made his Broadway debut as Rodolfo in Baz Luhrmann's La Bohème, for which he and his costars received a special Tony Award in 2003 for their performances. He performed in the Les Misérables 25th anniversary concert at London's O2 Arena in 2010 and played a sold-out six-month engagement as Valjean in the original West End production at the Queen's Theatre.
