Akin Babatunde, Morgan Richards, et al. Set for Texas Production of To Kill a Mockingbird

Preliminary casting has been announced for Dallas Theater Center and Casa Manana Theatre’s co-production of To Kill a Mockingbird, which will play Casa Manana in Fort Worth, September 24-October 2, and the AT&T Performing Arts Center in Dallas, October 21 – November 20. Wendy Dann will direct.

Adapted from the novel by Harper Lee, the play tells two stories set in a small southern town. One of the stories follows attorney Atticus Finch and his defense of a wrongly accused man. The other follows his bright, young daughter, Scout, as she learns the realities of irrational hatred and discovers her own goodness.

The cast will include Akin Babatunde (Reverend Sykes), Pam Daugherty (Mrs. Dubose), Greg Dulcie (Judge/Cunningham), James Dybas (Bob Ewell), Matthew Gray (Heck Tate), Bob Hess (Mr. Gilmer), Dawson Holder (Walter), Aiden Langford (Dill), Denis Lee (Calpurnia), Anastasia Munoz (Mayella), David Allen Norton (Jem), Van Quattro (Boo Radley), Bob Reed (Doctor/Clerk), Morgan Richards (Scout), Akron Watson (Tom Robinson), and Sally Nystuen Vahle (Miss Maudie). The role of Atticus Finch will be announced at a later date.

The production will feature costume design by Jennifer Ables, lighting design by Brian Bembridge, scenic design by Donna Marquet, and sound design and original music by Sarah Pickett.

In addition, The Dallas Public Library and other community partners will host literary events throughout the run of the play to encourage open dialogue about the story.
