Charles Busch and Julie Halston will be honored at the Abingdon Theatre Company’s 19th Annual Benefit Gala to be held on Monday, October 24 at Espace.
Busch’s Olive and the Bitter Herbs, featuring Halston, is currently running at 59E59 Theaters. He has written and co-starred in The Divine Sister, The Lady in Question , Red Scare on Sunset, The Third Story, and Vampire Lesbians of Sodom. In addition, he received a Tony Award nomination for his play The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife.
Halston’s Broadway credits include Hairspray, The Women, Twentieth Century, Gypsy, and The Man Who Came to Dinner. She is appearing in Olive, and her other collaborations with Busch include Times Square Angel and last season’s Divine Sister, among others.
In addition to the award presentations, which will also include an honor for businessman Timothy P. Speiss, who currently serves as Abingdon’s Chairman of the Board, the event will include live entertainment. Casting will be announced in the near future.
