Woolly Mammoth to Offer Four World Premieres in 2007-2008

Washington, D.C.’s Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company will present four world premiere plays during its 2007-2008 season.

On its Main Stage, the company will present Current Nobody, a new play by Melissa James Gibson, October 29-November 25. In this new work by the author of Suitcase and [sic], Gibson will flip-flop genders in an update on The Odyssey to create a tale about the ultimate working mom.

David Adjmi’s Stunning, directed by Anne Kaufman, will play the mainstage March 10-April 6. Inspired by A Streetcar Named Desire, the work focuses on a 16-year-old Brooklyn girl, married to a much older husband, who forms an unlikely relationship with her new African-American maid, Blanche.

The Melton Rehearsal Hall will host the premieres of Josh Lefkowitz’s solo show Now What?, October 31-November 25, and Laura Schellhardt’s The K of D, January 16-February 10, a supernatural fable starring Kimberly Gilbert.

Rounding out the Main Stage season will be Bruce Norris’ satire The Unmentionables, August 23-September 27, Nilaja Sun’s acclaimed solo piece No Child, January 14-February 10, and David Grimm’s award-winning farce Measure for Pleasure, May 26-June 29.
