Will Chase to Join Cast of NBC’s Smash

Will Chase has joined the cast of NBC’s upcoming Broadway-themed drama Smash, which chronicles the mounting of a Broadway show.

He will play Steven, a man who has a history with Julia (played by Debra Messing), one of the co-writers of the fictional musical at the center of the series. The cast also stars Megan Hilty, Christian Borle, Anjelica Huston, Jack Davenport, Brian d’Arcy James, and Katharine McPhee.

The series pilot script was written by playwright Theresa Rebeck. Tony Award winners Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman will provide original songs for the series. Tony Award winner Michael Mayer has directed the pilot episode.

Chase’s Broadway credits include Billy Elliot the Musical, The Story of My Life, Lennon, High Fidelity, and Rent, among others. His television appearances include episodes of Law & Order, One Life to Live, Rescue Me, and Royal Pains as well as upcoming episodes of Pan Am and White Collar.
