The original film version of West Side Story will return to cinemas June 24 and 27 as part of the yearlong TCM Big Screen Classics series. Turner Classic Movies and Fathom Events serve as presenters.

Presented in its original widescreen aspect ratio, and complete with its original mid-film intermission, West Side Story stars Natalie Wood as Maria, Richard Beymer as Tony, Rita Moreno as Anita, and George Chakiris as Bernardo. Both Moreno and Chakiris received Oscars for their performances.

With a score by Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim, West Side Story was codirected by Robert Wise and Jerome Robbins, both of whom received the Oscar for Best Director.
