Urinetown Suspends Due to Flooding (!!!), Will Resume Performances on Wednesday Night logo

Call it Brecht's revenge: The irony-laden, parodistic Broadway hit Urinetown is now the butt of a rather ironic joke on the part of Mother Nature and has had to close down for a couple days due to flooding.

Recent heavy rains have caused leaking in the roof of Broadway's Henry Miller Theatre, which houses the musical about a town with a severe water shortage. The building's owner, The Durst Organization, has requested that the company take a two-day holiday so that repairs can be made before the damage gets worse.

As a result, Urinetown will be dark on Tuesday evening, June 18 and will also skip the matinee on the following day, but audiences thirsting for the Tony Award-winning show can return on Wednesday the 19th at 8pm, when performances are expected to resume. If you're one of the unlucky people who'll be rained out, call Telecharge at 212-239-6200 to reschedule.
