Theatre for a New Audience Announces 2005-2006 Season

The Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre of London’s production of William Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure will be the first offering of Theatre for a New Audience’s 2005-2006 season. Directed by John Dove and co-starring Mark Rylance, the production will be seen at St. Ann’s Warehouse in Brooklyn, December 20-January 1, following an eight-week national tour.

TFANA’s season will continue with two other productions, both to be presented at the Duke on 42nd Street. Shakespeare’s All’s Well That Ends Well, directed by Darko Tresnjak, will run February 4-March 29. No stranger to the Bard’s work, Tresnjak has worked extensively at San Diego’s Old Globe Theater and helmed the Public Theater’s recent production of Two Noble Kinsmen.

The season will conclude with the New York premiere of Howard Brenton’s Sore Throats, directed by Evan Yionoulis, which will run April 22-May 21. Previously produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1979, Brenton’s drama charts the downward spiral of a 39-year-old suburban wife after her marriage disintegrates. Yionoulis directed the Broadway production of The Violet Hour, and is helming the Huntington Theatre Company’s production of Tom Stoppard’s The Real Thing starting September 9.
