The Orange Person to Premiere at Gene Frankel Theatre
The story of The Orange Person is told from the perspective of the people who actually experienced it. It is a celebration of existence, of difference, and of song. In Terlingua, the infamous ghost town of the rural southwest Texan desert, a family confronts a medical marvel; an orange baby is born.
The piece weaves together classic and original folk, R&B, and sacred music with an eclectic cast of storytellers and instrumentalists of all ages. It features the composing and performing talents of folk-pop banjo-darling of the Lower East Side Laura Dunn, the absurdist composer/ flutist/ pianist Ellen O'Meara, and Kirk Siee on upright bass.
Other actors, vocalists, and instrumentalists include Mikey Barringer, Ashley Biel, Dana Kaplan-Angle, Robert Lavenstein, Madalyn McKay, Justin Neal, Jose Paz, Brian Rady, Catherine Sullivan, and Joe White.
The design team will include Olga Mill (costumes), Chris Morris (sets), and Christopher Weston (lighting), and Chelsea Monet Dunaway (make-up).
