The 39 Steps to End Off-Broadway Run January 16

The Off-Broadway production of The 39 Steps, at New World Stages, will play its final performance on January 16, 2011. As of that time, it will have played 23 previews and 318 performances Off-Broadway and over 1,100 total performances in New York City.

Adapted by Patrick Barlow and directed by Maria Aitken, the play is a comedic take on Hitchcock’s 1935 classic thriller of the same name about a man who is forced by a mysterious woman’s death into a cross-country race for his life.

Prior to its Off-Broadway engagement, The 39 Steps played three different Broadway theaters: American Airlines Theatre, Cort Theatre, and Helen Hayes Theatre. It closed on Broadway January 10, 2010, and began its New World Stages run March 25.

The current cast features John Behlmann as Richard Hannay, Cameron Folmar as Man #2, Jamie Jackson as Man #1 and Kate MacCluggage as Annabella Schmidt/Pamela/Margaret.

Set and costume design is by Peter McKintosh, lighting design is by Kevin Adams and sound design is by Mic Pool. Original movement was created by Toby Sedgwick. Additional movement is created by Christopher Bayes.
