Shoshana Bean, Deborah S. Craig, Jenna Leigh Green, Tracie Thoms et al. Set for Jawbreaker Concert

Updated casting has been announced for a concert of music from Jawbreaker, a new musical based on the cult-classic film, at the Canal Room on Sunday, December 12, at 9pm. Jen Bender will direct, with music direction by James Sampliner.

Performers will now include Shoshana Bean, Deborah S. Craig, Nick Dalton, Alexa Green, Jenna Leigh Green, Keoni Hudoba, Morgan James, Katie Kern, Eric Michael Krop, Bobby List, Carrie Manolakos, Tracy McDowell, Jonathan Shew, Katie Thompson, and Tracie Thoms.

The musical features a score by Jonathan Larson Award-winning writers Jordan Mann and Jeff Thomson, and book by Darren Stein, who wrote and directed the original 1999 film, and will also appear at the concert.

It tells the Faustian tale of Satan-in-heels Courtney Shayne and her mean girl minions who play a nasty birthday prank on their picture-perfect bestie, asphyxiating her with a jawbreaker ball and accidentally killing her. When mousy Fern Mayo catches the flawless four tucking their dead friend back into bed, Courtney promises to make Fern popular in exchange for keeping their secret, implicating the innocent underling in their ill-fated cover up.
