Sebastian Arcelus, Fred Dalton Thompson to Lead Broadway Premiere of A Time to Kill
The stage adaptation of John Grisham's novel will also feature John Douglas Thompson.
Sebastian Arcelus (House of Cards), John Douglas Thompson (The Emperor Jones), and Fred Dalton Thompson (Law & Order) will star in the upcoming Broadway premiere of John Grisham's A Time to Kill. Adapted for the stage by Rupert Holmes and directed by Ethan McSweeny, previews will begin September 28 with an opening at the John Golden Theatre set for October 20.
Arcelus, who starred in the drama's world premiere at Arena Stage, will reprise his role as Jack Brigance, an idealistic attorney defending Carl Lee Hailey (John Douglas Thompson), an African-American man who took the law into his own hands after a crime was committed against his young daughter. Fred Dalton Thompson, a former United States senator, will play Judge Noose.
Grisham's novel was first published in 1988 and was subsequently adapted for the screen, in a version that starred Sandra Bullock, Samuel L. Jackson, Matthew McConaughey, and Kevin Spacey. Grisham is also the author of the novels The Firm, The Pelican Brief, The Rainmaker, and The Client, among many others.
While rehearsing and performing in A Time to Kill, Arcelus will continue his commitment as a regular on Emmy-nominated series House Of Cards.
A Time to Kill will feature scenic design by James Noone, costume design by David Woolard, lighting design by Jeff Croiter, sound design by Lindsay Jones, and projection design by Jeff Sugg.
