PBS’ Great Performances to Air RSC’s Hamlet on April 28

PBS will air the Royal Shakespeare Company’s production of Hamlet, which was filmed on location for television by the BBC, on Wednesday, April 28 as part of its Great Performances series.

Hamlet, which features David Tennant in the title role, was directed by Gregory Doran.The cast also features Patrick Stewart as Claudius/Ghost, Penny Downie as Gertrude, Mariah Gale as Ophelia, John Woodvine as the Player King, and Edward Bennett as Laertes. t was first seen at the RSC’s home in Stratford-upon-Avon. The production later transferred to the Novello Theatre in London’s West End.
