Nicole Kidman to Star in Film Version of Rabbit Hole logo

Oscar winner Nicole Kidman will star in the big-screen version of David Lindsay-Abaire's play Rabbit Hole, which will be released by Fox Searchlight Pictures, according to Variety. Kidman's company, Blossom Films, will produce the film, while Lindsay-Abaire is scheduled to write the screenplay. No director or other casting has been announced.

Rabbit Hole concerns a middle-aged couple whose life is destroyed when their young son is killed in a car accident. The play was seen on Broadway in 2006, starring Cynthia Nixon (who won the Tony Award for Best Actress ), John Slattery, and Tyne Daly in the leads.

Kidman appeared on Broadway in The Blue Room, for which she received a Theatre World Award. She won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her portayal of Virginia Woolf in The Hours. Her numerous other film credits include Cold Mountain, Moulin Rouge, and To Die For.

Lindsay-Abaire is the author of such plays as Fuddy Meers, Wonder of the World, and Kimberly Akimbo, as well as the book for the recently short-lived musical High Fidelity. His screenwriting credits include Robots and the currently filming Inkheart, starring Brendan Fraser.
