Louise Pitre to Leave Mamma Mia! in October logo
Louise Pitre
Singer-actress Louise Pitre, currently starring on Broadway in the popular ABBA musical Mamma Mia!, will leave the production this fall. No replacement casting has yet been announced.

Publicist Judy Katz confirmed today that Pitre will give her final performance in the show on October 19, 2003. "It's just time for her to move on," said Katz. "She has done the show for four years, here and in other cities, and that's quite some time. She wants to go back to doing concerts, some of which have already been booked for the fall. She is also in negotiations for a few film and theater-related projects."

As Donna Sheridan, the fiery single mother of young Sophie, Pitre sings such ABBA favorites as "Money, Money, Money" and "The Winner Takes it All" in Mamma Mia!. She made her Broadway debut after playing Donna on the musical's pre-Broadway tour in such cities as Toronto, Chicago, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. She received a 2002 Tony Award nomination, the Dora Mayor Moore Award (the Canadian equivalent of the Tony), the San Francisco Critics Circle Award, and the U.S. National Broadway Award for her performance.

Pitre's theater credits include Piaf, Les Misérables, The World Goes 'Round, and Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris. Among her solo recordings are Songs My Mother Taught Me and All My Life Has Led to This. For more information about Pitre, visit her official website at
