Kiki & Herb: Alive on Broadway to Play at A.C.T. in San Francisco
Kiki & Herb: Alive on Broadway will play San Francisco’s American Conservatory Theatre, July 13-29. The show had a critically acclaimed run at Broadway’s Helen Hayes Theater last summer.
Kiki & Herb are the creation of Justin Bond and Kenny Mellman. This production marks the homecoming of the duo, who met and began performing together almost 20 years ago after meeting at a San Francisco nightclub. Kiki (played by Bond) is a brash, boozy, septuagenarian chanteuse who is wont to share her political opinions and social commentary with audiences; Herb (played by Mellman) is her stalwart accompanist. In the show, the stars offer their own takes on songs by such artists as The Cure, Radiohead, Dan Fogelberg, Public Enemy, Gnarls Barkley, and more.
The Broadway design team, consisting of Scott Pask (set), Jeff Croiter (lights), Marc Happel (costumes), and Brett Jarvis (sound), will reunite for the A.C.T. run.
