Kevin Kline Offers One Night of Shakespeare as a Benefit for The Acting Company
Actor Kevin Kline will give a benefit performance for The Acting Company's 30th anniversary at 7pm on Sunday, September 22. In Kevin Kline -- Shakespeare Live!, the movie star and well-regarded stage actor will perform works by The Bard solo at Lincoln Center's Juilliard Theater.
Kline is just one of some 300 distinguished actors whose careers began in tours of classical repertory theater with The Acting Company. Jeffrey Wright, Patti LuPone, Harriet Harris, Jesse L. Martin, Tom Hewitt, Frances Conroy, Stephen DeRosa, and David Ogden Stiers are also alumni of the company, which John Houseman and Margot Harley formed in 1972 out of the graduating class of Juilliard's Drama Division.
Kline toured in 18 plays during The Acting Company's first four years of existence and went on to win the company's John Houseman Award. He now serves on its board of directors.
