Tony Award winner John Doyle will direct a revival of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s musical, Passion, at Classic Stage Company, with performances scheduled to begin in February of 2013.

Passion, which won the 1994 Tony Award for Best Musical, is set in 19th century Italy and centers on the chronically ill Fosca, and her obsessive love for handsome soldier Giorgio.

Doyle received Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards as Outstanding Director of a Musical for Sweeney Todd, and was Tony-nominated for his direction of Company. Among his other New York credits are A Catered Affair on Broadway and Road Show at the Public Theater.
