Il Divo and Tony Award-Winning Guest Performer Heather Headley to Sing Broadway on Broadway This Fall

The popular operatic quartet will release a new Broadway-themed album as they begin Broadway performances.

Il Divo, the operatic pop group created by American Idol‘s Simon Cowell, will come to Broadway for a limited six-night series of concerts from November 7-November 13 at the Marquis Theatre.

The popular foursome, made up of singers Carlos Marín, Urs Bühler, Sébastien Izambard, and David Miller, will bring their act to Broadway for the first time, though Miller appeared on Broadway in 2003 as Rodolfo in a production of La Bohème. Entitled Il Divo — A Musical Affair: The Greatest Songs of Broadway, the show will feature a series of popular numbers from classic Broadway musicals like The Phantom of the Opera, Carousel, and West Side Story. Heather Headley, a Grammy Award-winning R & B singer and the original Nala in The Lion King, will join the group for all six nights of its run as a special guest performer, returning to Broadway for the first time since her Tony Award-winning turn in Aida. Tickets will go on sale to the general public at 10:00am on September 16.

Il Divo’s new album will be released on November 5 just before the group’s Broadway run. It is similarly Broadway-oriented, featuring a collection of romantic Broadway numbers like “Some Enchanted Evening” from South Pacific, “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” from The Lion King, and “Tonight” from West Side Story. The album will also include a number of collaborations with guest vocalists including Barbra Streisand, Kristin Chenoweth, Nicole Scherzinger, and Michael Ball.
