Full Cast Set for London's The Lord of the Rings logo

Full casting has been announced for the London production of The Lord of the Rings, the stage musical adaptation of JRR Tolkien's trilogy, which begins performances on May 9 at the Royal Drury Lane. The production, which is directed by Matthew Warchus, has an official opening scheduled for June 19.

The show was previously seen in Toronto, where it ran over four hours; the London production will run only three hours. It has a book and lyrics by Shaun McKenna and Warchus, and music by AR Rahman and Finnish folk group Värttinä with Christopher Nightingale. The production is designed by Rob Howell and choreographed by Peter Darling.

Four members of the Toronto cast will recreate their roles in London: James Loye (Frodo Baggins), Peter Howe (Samwise Gamge), Owen Sharpe (Pippin), and Michael Therriault (Gollum). The cast will also feature Laura Michelle Kelly as Galadrie; Malcolm Storry as Gandalf; Jerome Pradon as Aragorn; Richard Henders as Merry; Michael Rouse as Gimli; Steven Miller as Boromir; Rosalie Craig as Arwen; Andrew Jarvis as Elrond, Terence Frisch as Bilbo; Tim Morgan as Théoden; and Kirsty Malpass as Rosie.

The ensemble will feature Alexandra Bonnet, Greg Bradley, James Byng, Darren Carnall, Lee Clayden, Jennie Dale, Claire Doyle, Stephen Emery, Ben Evans, Josh Feldshuh, Alma Ferovic, Wayne Fitsimmons, Chris Gage, David Grant, Shaun Henson, Christopher D. Hunt, Luke Johnson, Corrie Mac, Stuart Neal, Tim Parker, Richard Roe, Andrew Rothwell, Adam Salter, Robbie Scotcher, Nick Searle, Stevie Tate-Bauer, Jon Tsouras, Gavin Wilkinson, Glen Wilkinson, Sam Wilmot, and Kirk Zammit.
