Freaky Friday: The Musical, based on the new Disney Channel original movie, will be available for licensing on August 10, the same day as the musical's worldwide television premiere. The show's stage licensing will be available through Music Theatre International.

In addition to the new Disney Channel one-act musical, Freaky Friday, the stage musical was developed by Disney Theatrical Productions for licensing to professional and amateur theaters. The title had its world premiere at the Signature Theatre in Washington, DC, and the La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego.

Based on the novel by Mary Rodgers and the two Disney films, Disney's new Freaky Friday musical features a book by Bridget Carpenter (Parenthood) and a score by Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winners Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey (Next To Normal).

In the film, Heidi Blickenstaff and Cozi Zuehlsdorff play Katherine and Ellie, a mother and daughter who swap bodies and are forced to spend a day in each other's shoes. Also starring are Ricky Hee, Alex Désert, Jason Maybaum, Kahyun Kim, Dara Reneé, Jennifer Laporte, Isaiah Lehtinen, and Sarah Willey.
