Cook, Mitchell, Stritch, et al. to Perform in Kennedy Center Gala on April 17
Musical theater stars Barbara Cook, Brian Stokes Mitchell, and Elaine Stritch will join Irish tenor John McDermott, clarinetist Richard Stoltzman, and opera singer Frederica von Stade for A Salute to the 1940s Broadway Musical, a gala to be presented as part of the Kennedy Center festival A New America: the 1940s and the Arts. They will be accompanied by the National Symphony Pops Orchestra led by Marvin Hamlisch.
The benefit performance will be held on Sunday, April 17 at 8:30pm in the Kennedy Center Concert Hall in Washington, D.C. The black-tie event will begin with a reception on the South Plaza at 5pm, followed by dinner on the Roof Terrace level at 6pm; it will conclude with a party in the Roof Terrace Restaurant with the music of Big Ray and the Kool Kats.
Gala ticket packages range in price from $5,000 to $50,000, and individual tickets are priced from $500 to $1,000.
