Benson, Emery, Gold, et al. Join Nixon in Roundabout’s Distracted

Full cast and creative team information has been announced for the Roundabout Theatre Company’s production of Lisa Loomer’s Distracted, to play the Laura Pels Theatre, February 7-May 3, with an opening set for March 4. The production will be directed by Mark Brokaw.

The play, which premiered at the Mark Taper Forum in 2007, is a look at parenting in the age of the Internet and Ritalin. In addition to previously announced star Cynthia Nixon, who will play Mama, the production will feature Peter Benson (Dr. Broder, Dr. Karnes, Dr. Jinks), Shana Dowdeswell (Natalie), Lisa Emery (Vera), Natalie Gold (Dr. Zavala, Waitress, Carolyn), Matthew Gumley (Jesse), Mimi Lieber (Sherry), Aleta Mitchell (Mrs. Holly, Dr. Waller, Nurse), and Josh Stamberg (Dad).

The design team will include Mark Wendland (sets), Michael Krass (costumes), Jane Cox (lights), David Van Tieghem (original music & sound), and Tal Yarden (projections).

Nixon won the Tony Award for her work in Rabbit Hole. Her many New York stage credits include The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, Indiscretions, The Real Thing, and Hurlyburly. She won the Emmy Award for Sex and the City and starred in the film version of the series.

Loomer’s other plays include The Waiting Room and Living Out. Brokaw previously directed the Roundabout’s productions of The Constant Wife and Suddenly Last Summer.
