Austin Pendleton will direct Mother of Invention Theatre Company's Off-Broadway revival of Tennessee Williams' Small Craft Warnings at the Studio Theatre at Theatre Row, February 15-27, with an opening on February 19.

The play is an intimate look at a lonely and disparate group of working class people - among them are a compassionate middle-aged heart patient; a desirable beautician; her ne'er-do-well live-in lover; an alcoholic who lost his license to practice medicine but still does; a woman who risks becoming the target of wrath when she flirts; the short order cook who follows her around; and two gay men - a washed-up screenwriter and the young man bicycling from Iowa to Mexico that he picked up on the road.

Pendleton's production of Anton Chekhov's Three Sisters is currently playing at Classic Stage Company, and he will direct the Broadway premiere of Lisa D'Amour's play Detroit in the fall. Pendleton received a Tony Award nomination for his direction of The Little Foxes, starring Elizabeth Taylor, and has staged Lillian Hellman's Toys in the Attic and Tennessee Williams' Vieux Carre for the Pearl. He is also a well known actor and playwright.
