Anthony Rapp, best known for originating the role of Mark Cohen in Rent, will be performing the lead role of Cole Whalebone in two upcoming performances of The Water Dream at Shetler Studios, on Monday, December 5 at 2pm and 7pm.

The Water Dream is a redemption-themed musical featuring giant whale puppets and an aquarium of real water. It tells the story of Cole Whalebone (Rapp), a 30-year old writer living in present day Seattle. Early success distracts Whalebone from the memory of his mothers’ death, only to have the nightmare brought on again by bouts with insomnia and writers block, causing Cole’s girlfriend Sofia to leave and Cole to hit rock bottom.

The cast will also include Karmine Alers (Sofia), David Arkema (Henry), Shawn Cody (Moppet), Alexis Hightower (Marina), Adam Kern (Water Gods), Ryan Link (Ensemble/Cole & Moppet understudy), Erik Lochtefeld (Brian). Will Lyman (Michael/Narrator), Rob O’Hare (Dandelion Burn) and Diane Phelan (Isabel).

The creative team will feature director Thomas Caruso and music director Emily Otto.
