Academy Award Nominee Robert Forster to Appear on Geva Stage for 2013-2014 Season
World Premiere of The Lifeguard: Ronald Reagan and His Story is joined by Pulitzer- and Tony Award-winning plays set to hit the Geva stage.
The not-for-profit Geva Theatre Center announced their 2013-2014 season lineup today, featuring several Pulitzer- and Tony Award-winning plays, as well as a summer world premiere of The Lifeguard: Ronald Reagan and His Story.
Academy Award nominee and Rochester native Robert Forster will star in The Lifeguard: Ronald Reagan and His Story by award-winning TV writer David Rambo (The Lady With All the Answers). Directed by Mark Cuddy, The Lifeguard depicts Reagan's life told against the backdrop of the negotiations ending the Cold War. The limited run will hit the Fielding Nextstage from June 13-30, joining a soon-to-be-announced summer season.
The 2013-2014 Wilson Mainstage season will open with the countrified musical Pump Boys and Dinettes, set to play from September 10-October 13. Alfred Hitchcock's The 39 Steps takes the stage next from October 22-November 12. A hit in London and on Broadway, and winner of the Olivier Award for Best New Comedy, this hilarious thriller follows detective Richard Hannay as he attempts to solve a murder.
As per Rochester's holiday tradition, Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol will play from November 27-December 28 followed by Last Gas by John Cariani (Almost, Maine) from January 7-Feburary 2.
Pulitzer Prize winner Clybourne Park, written by Bruce Norris, hits the Wilson Mainstage from February 11-March 9. Clybourne Park tackles the issue of race through a fifty-year span following the evolution and gentrification of the same neighborhood in A Raisin in the Sun.
The world premiere of Informed Consent by Deborah Zoe Laufer will play from March 8-April 13 and Neil Simon's The Odd Couple rounds out the Wilson Mainstage season from April 22-May 18.
Running simultaneously to the Wilson Mainstage season is Fielding's Nextstage season beginning with the world premiere of All Your Questions Answered by two-time Tony Award winner Greg Kotis (Urinetown).
In conjunction with the Mainstage and Nextstage productions, Geva's 2014 Fielding Studio Series will feature the world premiere of Mat Smart's Tinker to Evers to Chance and Eric Coble's Stranded on Earth. Two additional studio productions will be announced soon.
