Broadway veterans Cris Groenendaal, Marni Nixon, and Sarah Rice will share the spotlight in Ménage, an evening of songs celebrating the outrageousness of relationships. Presented by Broadway Concerts Direct and featuring Sue Anderson at the piano, the one-night-only concert will be presented on September 20, 2004 at 8pm in the Merkin Concert Hall at the Kaufman Center, located at 129 West 67th Street. The program will showcase songs by such composers as Stephen Sondheim, Jerome Kern, Ivor Novello, Noël Coward, Irving Berlin, and Kurt Weill, as well as music by classical greats from Brahms to Mozart.

Cris Groenendaal has appeared on Broadway in Sweeney Todd, The Phantom of the Opera, Passion, Sunday in the Park With George, and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum; he also played the role of Father in the national tour of Ragtime.

Marni Nixon has enjoyed an illustrious career as a soprano, actress, and educator; her Broadway roles include Aunt Kate in James Joyce’s The Dead and Heidi Schiller in the 2001 revival of Follies. Perhaps most famous for her work as the singing double for major Hollywood stars in several major films, Nixon has penned an autobiography that is scheduled for publication in the spring of 2005.

Sarah Rice originated the role of Johanna in the Broadway production of Sweeney Todd and earned a Theatre World Award for her performance. Her Off-Broadway credits include The Fantasticks, The Waves, Swan Song, and the Equity Library Theatre production of The Music Man.

Sue Anderson has worked as a conductor and musical director with the Broadway and national touring companies of The Pirates of Penzance, Me and My Girl, and Cats, and she was the on-stage pianist for the Broadway musical Jerry’s Girls. She has accompanied and conducted for her husband, Cris Groenendaal, in concerts at Carnegie Hall and throughout the United States.

Tickets for Ménage are priced at $30 for general admission and $20 for seniors; they can be purchased at the Merkin Concert Hall box office, via phone by calling 212-501-3330, or online by clicking here.
