Broadway to Dim its Lights in Memory of Ron Silver
As previously reported, Silver, who won the Tony Award for his portrayal of Charlie Fox in the original Broadway production of Speed-the-Plow, died in New York City on March 15 after a two-year battle with esophageal cancer, at the age of 62.
In a statement, The Broadway League’s executive director, Charlotte St. Martin, said, “The intelligence and intensity of Ron Silver’s presence on stage was a gift to live theatre. I’ve enjoyed watching his performances in every medium, but I’m grateful that his extraordinary talent contributed to Broadway’s history of great actors.”
