The new musical Ernest Shackleton Loves Me has been added to the current season of New Jersey's George Street Playhouse, replacing the previously announced production of John Guare's Six Degrees of Separation. The musical will run from April 22-May 17, with opening night set for April 24.

Featuring a score by Brendan Milburn and Valerie Vigoda of the band GrooveLily, Ernest Shackleton Loves Me features a book by Tony Award winner Joe DiPietro. Lisa Peterson directs. It tells the story of a sleep-deprived single mom who works as a video game music composer and is contacted across time by the famous polar explorer Ernest Shackleton to share his journey though the Antarctic. The show previously played at Seattle Rep.

The cast comprises singer-songwriter Vigoda and Wade McCollum (Priscilla Queen of the Desert), who also accompany themselves on musical instruments. The world of the play, which includes video, Skype technology, and green-screen imagery, is the work of production designer Alexander Nichols.
