Warren Draper will play the title role in Anaheim Hills’ Chance Theater’s Southern California premiere of Jerry Springer: The Opera, July 1-August 8.

The show is a mix of high art and low culture inspired by America’s most lurid TV talk show. This raunchy, high-energy production follows the famous talk show host as he suffers through the worst day of his career to wind up in the afterlife and beyond. Featuring nappy fetishists, wannabe strippers, and dancing Klansmen, this profane, cheeky musical has a sung-through score that ranges from pop and classical to contemporary opera. Premiering in London in 2003, the production won the Laurence Olivier, Critic’s Circle, Evening Standard, and What’s On Stage Awards for Best Musical.

The cast will also include David Laffey as Jonathan/Satan, David McCormick as Steve Wilkos, Jovani McCleary as Dwight/God, Erika C. Miller as Peaches/Baby Jane, Laura M. Hathaway as Zandra/Irene/Mary, Matthew Ballestero as Tremont/Gabriel, Jared Pugh as Montel/Jesus, Katie Kitani as Andrea/Michael, Kyle Cooper as Chucky/Adam, Jessie Withers as Shawntel/Eve, and an ensemble featuring Rebecca Fondiler, Andrea Paquin, Stephanie Bull, Kellie Spill, Travis Ammann, Israel Cortez, Nathan Willingham, and Ryan Spindel.
