Sally Hughes to Star in A Sentimental Journey at El Portal

Sally Hughes will star in the American premiere of A Sentimental Journey – the Story of Doris Day at El Portal Theatre, November 2-20 with an opening on November 5. Alvin Rakoff will direct.

Written by Adam Rolston, the musical drama is based on the life and songs of the legendary Doris Day. The production comes directly from the Edinburgh Theatre Festival and a successful London run, which also starred Hughes.

The company also includes Elizabeth Elvin, Tom Sellwood Conor, Michael Sheridan, and Nick Waring, as well as an onstage band.

The piece features such songs as “The Deadwood Stage,” “Secret Love,” “Little Girl Blue,” “Day by Day,” “Que Sera Sera,” “It’s Magic,” and “Young at Heart.”
