Immediate Family begins performances tonight at the Mark Taper Forum. The new comedy takes place when the Bryant siblings, who haven’t seen each other for five years, are reunited at a family wedding. The event quickly devolves into a comedic family showdown as secrets are revealed and long-held beliefs are challenged. Over a spirited game of cards, the Bryants look closely at evolving ideas of family and marriage, bringing all kinds of family dysfunction to light.

Written by Paul Oakley Stovall and directed by Phylicia Rashad, the show features Kamal Angelo Bolden, J. Nicole Brooks, Bryan Terrell Clark, Shanésia Davis, Mark J. Sullivan, and Cynda Williams.

The creative team includes John Iacovelli (set design), ESosa (costume design), Elizabeth Harper (lighting design), and Joshua Horvath (sound design).

Performances will run through June 7.
