George Clooney, Christine Lahti, Jane Lynch, Brad Pitt Featured on LATW’s 8 Audio Recording, Set for June 1 Release

L.A. Theatre Works will release the full cast audio recording of the Los Angeles premiere of Dustin Lance Black’s play 8 for both purchase and digital download on June 1.

As previously reported, the play was performed in Los Angeles on March 3. Rob Reiner directed the piece, which has been crafted from the transcripts of the Proposition 8 trial over same-sex marriage in California. Among the characters in the piece are Theodore B. Olson and David Boies, the lawyers for the two gay couples who sued California over the ban; Charles J. Cooper, the lead defense counsel; Kristin M. Perry and Sandra B. Stier, a lesbian couple who were among the plaintiffs; and the judge, Vaughn R. Walker of the Federal District Court for the Northern District of California.

The company features George Clooney as Boies, Brad Pitt as Walker, Martin Sheen as Olson, Kevin Bacon as Cooper, Jamie Lee Curtis as Stier, Christine Lahti as Perry, John C. Reilly as David Blankenhorn, Jane Lynch as Maggie Gallagher, Jesse Tyler Ferguson as Dr. Ilan Meyer, Matthew Morrison as Paul Katami, Chris Colfer as Ryan Kendall, Yeardley Smith as Dr. Nancy Cott, Matt Bomer as Jeff Zarrillo, George Takei as Dr. William Tam, Rory O’Malley as Dr. Gregory Herek, Cleve Jones as Evan Wolfson, James Pickens, Jr. as Dr. Gary Segura, Jansen Panettiere as Elliott Perry, Bridger Zadina as Spencer Perry, Vanessa Garcia as Clerk, and Campbell Brown as Broadcast Journalist.


In addition to the recording of the performance, the two disc set will also include bonus material such as interviews with playwright Black and director Reiner; and attorneys Boies and Olson; as well as a backstage interview montage with Clooney, Curtis, Sheen, Reilly, Lynch, Ferguson, and Pickens.
