Alec Baldwin, Sam Underwood to Star in Equus at Guild Hall; Christine Ebersole, Florence Henderson, Andrea Marcovicci, et al. Set for Season
The company will also feature Sam Underwood as Alan Strang, along with Kathleen McNenny, Jennifer Van Dyck, Shashi Balooja, Nehassaiu deGannes, Steve Hamilton, Terrence Michael McCrossan, Tuck Milligan, Chuck Novatka, Taylor Proffitt, Jp Qualters, Georgia Warner, and Mark Larson.
Baldwin has appeared on Broadway in A Streetcar Named Desire, Loot, and Twentieth Century. He received an Academy Award nomination for The Cooler and has won two Emmy Awards for his work on NBC's 30 Rock. Underwood was recently seen in the Irish Rep's production of Candida. Among his other credits are regional and touring productions of A Chorus Line, Les Miserables, Singin' in the Rain, and Gypsy.
Guild Hall has also announced its other programming for the summer, which includes cabaret performances by Andrea Marcovicci (July 10), Karen Akers (July 30), Christine Ebersole (July 31), Klea Blackhurst and Billy Stritch (August 8), and Steve Ross (August 22).
In addition, the venue will present Heart to Hart, featuring Anna Bergman and Lee Roy Reams and will be host to the Mabel Mercer Foundation' The Fourth Hamptons Cabaret Convention.
The theater will also offer a trio of staged readings of James Goldman's A Lion in Winter (July 18); Jenny Lyn Bader's Petticoat Government (August 1), directed by Daniela Varon; and Willy Holtzman's The Morini Strad (August 27).
Other highlights of the summer season at Guild Hall include Today's View: Conversation, Comedy, Coffee (and Mimosa Moments), featuring Joy Behar and Meredith Viera (July 11); and A Bipolar Evening with Friends; Florence Henderson and Bruce Vilanch (July 24). The theater's activities will also include presentations for young people, which will include Dear Edwina (August 5-7), as well as a series of one-performance-only events.
