The Almeida Theatre has announced its programming for the fall, through early 2012.

The schedule will include Stephen Poliakoff’s My City, to run September 8 – November 5. The playwright will direct his script which explores what happens when a man finds the woman who had been his primary school headmistress lying on a park bench near St. Paul’s Cathedral. The production will have designs by Lez Brotherson lighting by Oliver Fenwick and sound and music by Ben and Max Ringham. Casting will be announced shortly.

The Almeida will also produce Neil LaBute’s Reasons To Be Pretty (November 10 – January 14), directed by the playwright. The piece explores the ramifications of a man’s casual comments about his girlfriend’s appearance. The creative team will include Soutra Gilmour (production design), Mark Henderson (lighting design) and Fergus O’Hare (sound design).

In addition to these two productions, the theater will offer Almeida Festival 2011, to run July 6-30. The event will include an appearance by Greyscale theater company, which will present an environmental, collaboratively created piece (July 6-16) that will allow theatregoers to “buy the experience they want.” The Festival will also feature the Belarus Free Theatre, which will perform Eurpica Challenge (July 20-26), a collection of 14 plays from 13 European countries. The festival will conclude with a trio of performances by the Young Friends of the Almeida (LAB), who will offer a new company-created production, directed by Lu Kemp.
