BroadwayHD has announced that it will present a filmed edition of the recent West End production of 42nd Street as a one-night-only Fathom Events screening in movie theaters nationwide on Wednesday, May 1. The West End production of 42nd Street recently ended a nearly two-year run at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane in January.

The BroadwayHD production of 42nd Street was one of the last projects of legendary theater artist Mark Bramble, who cowrote the book for the original 1981 production of 42nd Street and directed the 2001 revival, for which he received a Tony nomination. He died at the age of 68 in February.

With a book by Bramble and Michael Stewart, music by Harry Warren, and lyrics by Al Dubin, and based on the 1933 Busby Berkeley movie musical, 42nd Street tells the story of a starry-eyed young actress who comes to New York to audition for a Broadway musical. In addition to Bramble directing, Randy Skinner, who worked on the 1981 Broadway production, choreographed. Ross MacGibbon is the director of the filmed version.
