A Christmas Carol - A Ghost Story of Christmas begins performances tonight at Alley Theatre.

Michael Wilson's adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, returning for it's 12th season at Alley Theatre, follows holiday favorite Ebenezer Scrooge and his journey from miserly businessman to kindhearted benefactor over the course of three ghostly nights. Scrooge, perennially averse to the season and displays of charitable kindness, is visited by three ghosts representing the past, present, and future. Through the insights provided by these apparitions Scrooge's heart softens and he learns the true meaning of Christmas.

James Black directs a cast including Jeffrey Bean (Ebenezer Scrooge), Chris Hutchison (Bob Cratchit), Paul Hope (Second Solicitor, Mr. Fezziwig), Charles Krohn (Undertaker, Old Joe), Melissa Pritchett (Mary Pidgeon, Spirit of Christmas Past), David Rainey (Bert, Spirit of Christmas Present), Jay Sullivan (Fred, Scrooge at 21), and Emily Trask (Belle, Fred's Wife).

"Every time I watch A Christmas Carol, I find something new and reinvigorating," said Alley artistic director Gregory Boyd. "We are blessed with such a beautiful production from longtime Alley artist Michael Wilson, and are thrilled to offer this production to our audiences again this season.

Rounding out the cast are Michael Brusasco (First Solicitor, Fiddler), John Feltch (Mrs. Dilber, Jacob Marley), Dylan Godwin (Apparition, Dick Wilkins, Mr. Topper), Shawn Hamilton (Mr. Marvel), Mark Ivy (Apparition, Lamplighter, Travis), Julia Krohn (Mrs. Fezziwig, Mrs. Cratchit), McKenna Marmolejo (Apparition, Rich Lady, Patricia), Trace Pool (Apparition, Party Guest), Raven Troup (Apparition, Wendy, Martha Cratchit), and Brooke Wilson (Apparition, Beggar Woman, Fred's Sister-In-Law). In addition to the adult cast, 22 children from the Greater Houston area will be participating in various roles.

The creative staff includes Tony Straiges (scenic design), Alejo Vietti (costume design), Rui Rita (lighting design), and John Gromada (original music composition).

Performances run through December 29.
