Over half a century since it was founded in 1947, the Alley is healthy, thriving, and growing thanks to the ongoing support and dedication of its artists, patrons in the city of Houston and supporters from around the world. In 1996 the Alley was awarded the Special Tony for Outstanding Regional Theatre. Artistically innovative, financially efficient, and socially conscientious, the Alley stands as a monument to its makers: the artists, administrators, and devoted patrons who have upheld its ideal for a half a century.
