Westport Country Playhouse has announced additional dates for its free community gatherings at the venue to celebrate the life of Paul Newman, followed by the film of Westport Country Playhouse’s 2002 production of Thornton Wilder’s Our Town, which starred Newman as the Stage Manager.

In addition to the previously announced Saturday, November 22, at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m., gatherings will also be held on Thursday, November 20, and Friday, November 21, both beginning at 7pm, with screenings to follow at 8pm.

Newman, the husband of Westport Country Playhouse artistic director Joanne Woodward, passed away following a long bout with cancer on Friday, September 26 at the age of 83. He was renowned for both his film and stage work, and appearances at Westport Country Playhouse included Love Letters, Ancestral Voices, For the Children, Trumbo, Come Be My Love, and Our Town. He was also a member of the Playhouse’s advisory council to the board of trustees since 2000.

While the event is free, reservations are required. Call 203-227-4177, or toll-free at 1-888-927-7529.
