Hartford Stage has confirmed casting for the world premiere of Michael Kramer’s Divine Rivalry, to run February 24-March 20. Michael Wilson will direct.

The play is inspired by a little known meeting of the Renaissance’s three greatest minds — Leonardo da Vinci (to be played by Peter Strauss), Michelangelo (to be played by Aaron Krohn), and Machiavelli (to be played by Scott Parkinson) — and the consequences when art is used as a tool for political and personal ambition. Simon Jones will round out the cast in the role of Soderini.

The creative team will include Jeff Cowie (set), David C. Woolard (costumes), Robert Wierzel (lighting), and John Gromada (sound).
