Jimmy Smits to Lead Steppenwolf’s The Motherf**ker With The Hat

Stage and screen favorite Jimmy Smits will make his Chicago stage debut in Steppenwolf Theatre Company‘s production of Stephen Adly Guirgis’ The Motherf**ker with The Hat, to be directed by Anna D. Shapiro. The comedy will run December 28-March 3 in Steppenwolf’s Downstairs Theatre.

Smits will play addiction recovery sponsor Ralph D. He joins previously announced cast members Sandra Delgado, Sandra Marquez, John Ortiz, and Gary Perez.

Shapiro directed the Broadway premiere of The Motherf**ker With the Hat. Smits’ stage credits include God of Carnage, Anna in the Tropics, Much Ado About Nothing, and Twelfth Night. He has appeared on television in Sons of Anarchy, Dexter, The West Wing, L.A. Law, NYPD Blue, and many others.
